PHOTOS FROM ROTARY DISTRICT 1175 FOUNDATION DINNER NOVEMBER 2017 AT ST MELLION

To mark 100 years of the Rotary Foundation, Rotarians in Devon and Cornwall came together

for a fundraising dinner to celebrate some of the successes of the work that the Foundation does.

Those present were told about how we do more through Endowments and major gifts by

Rtn Steve Munns, a history of the Foundation Founder, Arch Klumph by RI Director Brian Stoyel,

the work of the Trustees by Rtn Mike Webb and Rtn John James gave a report on some of our

1175 District projects.

Did you know that currently there are $1.7 million worth of projects running or in the planning

stage funded by Rotary Foundation in this part of the UK? A staggering figure!

Rev. Maggy Whitehouse completed the eveningwith a comic turn with some

interesting thoughts about religion and other matters.

A great evening of celebrations.  Support our own charity.

Foundation 100 years

Rotary Foundation's Mission Statement  is to support the efforts of Rotary International in the fulfilment of the Object of Rotary and Rotary's emphases for the achievement of World understanding and peace through local, national and international humanitarian, educational and cultural support programs.

The Rotary Foundation relies on the enthusiastic support of Rotarians voluntarily giving generously of their time and money, and has become one of the foremost non-governmental foundations in the world. The educational support program is the largest private scholarship endowment in the world.

It is said that every minute of every day Rotary will touch the lives of millions somewhere in the world. The Rotary Foundation is one of the world's leading charitable foundations and each Rotarian can be justly proud of its achievements in the past, present and in the future.

Polio Eradication remains a top priority for Rotary.

In 1985 Rotary International started a campaign to immunise the children of the world against polio. Rotary is a spearheading partner in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (the largest public health initiative the world has ever known) that has spanned 200 countries, utilised 20 million volunteers, immunised over 2 billion children, probably spared 5 million from disability and averted more than a million deaths. See theRotary International Polio Eradication pages and theWorld Health Organisationpages for more information.

The festival is a yearly event planned and organised by the Rotary Club of Saltash. There is fantastic live music and some impressive bikes to look at. Many guests come down and join us at the Union Inn for a pint of ale and a burger, and enjoy the sunshine.
